Ciao Bella shifting production to Oregon.

Press reports out of Oregon indicate that Ciao Bella Gelato is planning to shift production of its Italian style ice cream and sorbet to Eugene. The company is currently listing two addresses on its website, one in Florham Park, NJ where it has its corporate office, and the other, a sales office, in Eugene where its current vice president of operations Tim Fitzpatrick is based.

The reports also note that Ciao Bella's executive chef, Danilo Zecchin, has moved to Eugene from the East Coast but there is no word as to whether the company will use a local manufacturer or open its own production plant. However, Fitzpatrick formerly worked for Turtle Mountain, which produces the Sweet Nothings, So Delicious and Purely Decadent brand soy- and coconut milk-based frozen desserts in its Springfield, OR plant, and there is the possibility that that company could co-pack for Ciao Bella if it does not open its own production facility.

Ciao Bella, which had its start in New York City in 1983, sells gelato and sorbet nationally in packaged form in retail outlets as well as supplying a variety of foodservice outlets. The company also operates its own gelato bars, of which four are in New York City and another three in California. The brand has been a frequent award winner at NASFT WFancy Food Shows and other venues.
