Churchill wraps up top baseball seed.

Jerad Thompson threw a shutout and Eric Brown belted a solo home run in the fifth inning as Churchill clinched the Midwestern League's top seed for the Class 4A baseball state playoffs with a 4-0 victory at Willamette on Wednesday.

Matt Irsfeld added a two-run single in the fifth for the Lancers (14-1 league), who earned at least a share of the league title with one game left.

Tyler Martell was 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lift Sheldon to an 8-0 Midwestern League victory at Thurston.

Jon Keller allowed three hits and struck out 11 in six innings to lead North Eugene to a 10-0 Midwestern League win at Marshfield.

Zach Taylor was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead South Eugene to a 4-2 Midwestern League victory at Lebanon.

Chris Rice allowed one earned run in a complete game, and Colton Haag was 3-for-4 with an RBI double, leading Elmira to a 5-1 Sky-Em League win at La Pine.

Ryan Rauschert was 2-for-4 and visiting Junction City capitalized on six Cottage Grove errors in an 8-2 Sky-Em League victory over the Lions.

Softball

Freshman Megan Peterson had three RBIs and struck out six in three innings as No. 1 Churchill clinched the Midwestern League title with a 10-0 victory over visiting Willamette. Kelly Dyer struck out four in three innings and added three RBIs for the Lancers.

Ashley Likens struck out seven in three innings and added three hits, four RBIs and three runs scored as North Eugene beat visiting Marshfield 10-0 in Midwestern League play.

Freshman Sienna Stanley threw a two-hitter to lift Sheldon to a 3-0 Midwestern League victory over visiting Thurston.

Ellen Ballantine's single scored Rachel Hoar in the bottom of the ninth to give South Eugene a 2-1 Midwestern League victory over visiting Springfield.

Kayla Rauschert was 3-for-4 and Christie Richards added a two-run double to lead Junction City to an 8-5 Sky-Em League win at Siuslaw.

Whitney Hoff blasted a two-run homer, and Kasey Rowe had a double and three RBIs as Marist beat Creswell 15-0 in Sky-Em League play.
