Church plans a big birthday.

THE Holy Cross Church, in St Austell Road, Wyken, is to celebrate its 70th birthday with a series of events.

The celebrations will be launched with a golf tournament on Monday from 7.30pm.

This will be followed on Tuesday with a whist drive at 2pm.

A beetle drive will then be staged on Thursday from 7.30pm, while on Friday all are invited to go on a walk from 11am. The week-long festivities will reach a climax on Saturday with a Summer Fete at 1pm.

The day will be rounded off with a musical showtime at 7pm. Performances will be given by a number of artists including, members of the Nostalgics, and John and Hannah Watkins.
