Church music.

A SPECIAL jazz night has been organised to help raise funds for a church.

North East band Rendezvous Jazz will bring their brand of traditional and Dixieland music to the event at St Mary's Church, Claremont Gardens, Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, on June 4. Vocalist Maureen Hall will be leading the group, accompanied by six musicians - Alan Smith on the trumpet, Barry Soulsby on the clarinet, Iain McAulay playing the trombone, Mac Smith on the keyboard, John Robinson playing double bass and Jim McKeown on the drums.

Event organiser, Sheila Torrance, said: "This will be a thoroughly entertaining performance. We would urge people not to miss out on a great evening of good company and good music, and support St Mary's redevelopment fund."

Music is from 7.30pm to 10pm. For more information and tickets, at pounds 7.50, ring 0191 251 4216 or Sheila on 237 6603.
