Church's sex probe ends.
AN inquiry into clerical sex abuse set up by the Church has dramatically ended its investigation.
Chairwoman Judge Gillian Hussey said the move follows the establishment of a state inquiry by the Justice Minister Michael McDowell.
She said the more focused and detailed state investigation would cover the same ground as her inquiry.
She added: "The most important issue is not who carries out the investigation, but rather that it will ensure full accountability and assist the closure process for all those who have so tragically suffered."
Irish bishops yesterday accepted Judge Hussey's decision to wind up her inquiry.
