Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler), a United States-based automaker, is aiming to receive a low cost Energy Department retooling loan in 2010.

The Energy Department has granted around USD9bn from the USD25bn retooling programme to help automakers convert factories to produce more efficient vehicles, and build new ones to produce plug-in electric vehicles and other fuel efficient models.

The automaker received around USD6bn in retooling loans in 2008.
