Chromebooks and more: Highlights of Acer's latest devices reveal.
It's that time of the year when Acer shows off its latest devices at a global press conference in New York. Last May 23, the Taiwanese-based manufacturer showed off various computers targetted at general consumers, gamers as well as the business crowd.
Here's a selection of highlights from the announcement:
1. Acer Swift 5: So much screen
Acer's Swift range has proven popular thanks to lightweight, attractive designs that aren't too hard on the wallet.
The Swift 5 is one of the sleekest 15-inch laptops that, despite a 15.6-inch Full HD (FHD) screen, weighs less than 1kg.
Besides being super light, the display also has super-thin 5.87mm bezels, which means you'll get a lot more display for the space.
Pricing and availability has yet to be confirmed.
2. Acer Predator Helios range: Gaming-optimised
Acer's premium gaming laptops get new additions - for instance the monster Predator Helios 500. It comes with a massive 17.3-inch display as well as the latest Intel Core i9+ processor, overclockable NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics.
The pre-existing Predator Helios 300 model now comes in a white special edition, with gold trim. It's a step down specs-wise compared to the 500, with 8th-gen Intle processors, a 15.6-inch FHD display and the GTX 1060.
The Predator Helios 500 is priced at US$1,999 (RM7,954) in the US, Malaysian pricing and availability unconfirmed as yet for the device and the special edition Helios 300.
3. Acer Nitro: Gaming value
The popular Acer Nitro gaming range, for more casual gamers, gets upgrades with new gaming desktop PCs as well as monitors.
There's the Nitro 50 series PCs with 8th-gen processors and NVIDIA GTX 1070 GPUs and the Nitro VG0 and RG0 series monitors that offer super-fast response times.
US pricing for the Nitro 50, VG0 and RG0 are US$799, US$129.99 and US$169.99.
4. Acer Chromebook Spin 15: A convertible Chromebook
Acer's been making some solid Chromebooks, with its latest Spin 15 being a convertible option that sports a 15.6-inch touchscreen display and a whopping 14 hours of battery life.
Pricing starts at US$449 and it also comes in a 13-inch version. The Spin 15, Acer says, is the world's first convertible Chromebook.
