Christmas presence; Colour and style are key for when it comes to choosing a dazzling outfit for the party season.

EVERYONE loves to wrap up in something glamorous for Christmas.

It's that time of year when we all like to dress to impress - whether it's for the office Christmas party, a festive family get-together or a stylish night out with friends.

Stunning sequins, bold colours and festive faux fur are all bang on trend this party season. David Livingstone Crushed velvet, too, is a key look - as is beautiful lace.

Style experts say the secret to buying the perfect Christmas outfit is picking the colour and style that best suits you.

Anna Easdale, of John Lewis's Glasgow store, said: "It's amazing what a difference it can make to know what colours suit you best.

"At John Lewis, we actually offer a service where our customers can book in to have their colours done, which means we can show them exactly what ones are right for them.

"Wearing the wrong colour can really drain you, while the right colour can make such a difference. Red is traditionally always a popular dress colour at Christmas, and this season red dresses are very on-trend.

"We are also seeing lots of lovely blues, blacks and metallics.

"We have a number of beautiful shift dresses that are very pale, and we also have a wonderful not-quite-jade dress that is stunning, as well as beautiful sequins dresses that will look great at any Christmas event."

Marie Burke, deputy store manager at House of Fraser, Glasgow, says there are wonderful Christmas outfits to suit all this season.

She said: "Velvet is making a comeback in a big way - look out for crushed velvet dresses in blacks and burgundy.

"Mixing textures is key - our Therapy black bodycon with leopard print velvet detailing illustrates the trend perfectly.

"For a more sophisticated look, team a jacquard dress with a marabou feather tippet.

"Look out for hems getting lower as the midi takes centre stage and be sure to team with heels for a super flattering look."
