Christmas messages from city churches.

Right Reverend David Urquhart, Bishop of Birmingham As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, Son of God, in our overcrowded lives and an uncertain world, May the joy of the angels, the eagerness of the shepherds, the perseverance of the wise men, the obedience of Joseph and Mary, and the peace of the Christ-child be yours this Christmas and always.

The Very Reverend Catherine Ogle, Dean of Birmingham This year we have the pleasure of a great new library in the city, full of wonderful books of stories and poetry, information and wisdom. At Christmas we remember 'The Greatest Story ever told', the story of the birth of a baby bringing love and hope to each of us.

I wish you every blessing and happiness as you celebrate Christmas this year, and that you know love and hope now and throughout 2014.

Archbishop Bernard Longley, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Birmingham "As we celebrate the birth of Christ, we give thanks for the gift of life itself - because life is precious, we cherish it.

"May God bless you and the lives of all those close to you this Christmas."
