Christmas art show; Exhibition.

PAINTERS, sculptors, photographers all manner of other artists will be sharing their work this weekend at Hepworth Church for a unique exhibition which is all about Christmas.

Christmas in Art will look at how professional and amateur artists interpret the theme of Christmas.

Sculptors, potters and painters from across the valley are amongst the many creative locals who have been invited to showcase their response to the Christmas theme.

Over the past four months they have been creating work that takes a personal look at different aspects of the Christmas story and the way the season is celebrated.

The results will be on display at Hepworth Church tomorrow and Sunday.

The Rev Keith Griffin, one of the organisers of this summer's newly created Holmfirth Art Festival, is keen to see the church used in this way.

"The Holme Valley has a thriving creative population, many of whom take part in exhibitions locally and nationally throughout the year,"

"This may be the first time an exhibition based on the theme of Christmas has been staged like this and we're very excited by the range of work which will be on display, from the religious to the humorous, and plenty in between."

The festival will be open between 10am-6pm tomorrow and between 11am-4pm on Sunday. Admission for adults is pounds 2 with children admitted free.Seasonal refreshments available.
