Chris Evans returns to BBC radio fold.

Chris Evans is to present a new Saturday afternoon show on Radio 2.

The former Big Breakfast host has signed a seven-month contract with the BBC.

It will be his first full-time job with BBC radio since he quit the Radio 1 breakfast show in 1997.

Evans has tried out for Radio 2 over the past few months by presenting Bank Holiday specials and co-hosting its Live 8 coverage.

Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas said: 'Chris is one of the UK's most innovative broadcasters and I'm delighted that he is joining Radio 2's roster of first-class presenters.'

His show will run from 2pm-5pm on Saturdays
