Choral concert has wide appeal.
RHOS Male Voice Choir promises something for everybody at their annual concert in Wrexham tomorrow, Saturday.
Two of Wales's most promising opera singers - soprano Rebecca Evans and tenor Trystan Llyr Griffiths - will be taking to the stage at the William Aston Hall, Glyndwr University, Wrexham as soloists for the concert - which also features for the first time a contribution from Cor Bechgyn Rhos - Rhos Boys' Choir.
Rebecca Evans is a favourite at the Welsh National Opera, including major roles in Turandot, The Marriage of Figaro, Fidelio and Hansel und Gretel.
Welsh Tenor Trystan Llyr Griffiths was named the 'Voice of Wales' in 2012 by Decca Records from a search of over 600 singers in a series televised by S4C.
The concert will be the first since Rhos Male Voice Choir sang at London's Royal Festival Hall in the section finals of the BBC Choir of the Year in October - when their performance was described as outstanding by the judges.
The choir will be singing from its extensive repertoire - with many pieces getting a first outing at the annual concert - with a specially arranged medley including Pack Up Your Troubles, It's A Long Way To Tipperary and Keep The Home Fires Burning to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.
Musical director Aled Phillips said: "This promises to be one of the best concerts the choir has given in recent years. We have two of Wales's finest singers - and the choir are currently in top form."
Rhos Boys Choir - only founded last year - will be singing at the choir's annual concert for the first time. Aled Phillips said: "The boys choir is a new development for Rhos Male Voice Choir - we have a very talented group of young lads - many with fathers and grandfathers in the main choir - and they are really looking forward to singing at the annual concert."
