Chitrangada set for new innings.

MAVERICK could truly be the word that defines Chitrangada Singh. In an era when every other actress steadfastly stick to a specific image, the dusky beauty touts as her calling card her sheer ability to surprise every time.

In town on a brand endorsement outing, the 37- year- old looked not a day older than 25.

She seemed relaxed, revealing no tension over rumours of an impending divorce from golfer hubby Jyoti Randhawa ( which she has subsequently denied), though she was rather hesitant to talk on the subject.

At an age when most actresses think of calling it a day, Chitrangada seems all set for a new innings in Bollywood.

Interestingly, her career has actually been on a reverse drive. Most actresses start out with glamour roles in commercial films in their younger days and then graduate to meaningful cinema if they can survive the grind.

Chitrangada started out with offbeat fare such as Hazron Khwahishen Aisi and Kal a decade ago and then, well into her thirties, has opted to go for an uber- glam turn with films such as Desi Boyz , I Me Aur Main and an item dance in Joker . Of course, she isn't giving up on hitting the experimental mode either, evidenced by Inkr earlier this year.

Right now, Chitrangada is all set to present the Channel V show, Gumrah, which marks her foray into the small screen. Mentor Sudhir Mishra has cast her in his forthcoming Mehrunissa , opposite Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor. She will also be seen in Mishra's next, Nawab , The Nautch Girl And The John Company , with Saif Ali Khan and Irrfan.
