Chinese ritual protest.

PRACTITIONERS of the Chinese ritual Falun Gong held a protest in Huddersfield at the weekend in a bid to put a stop to the torture of fellow practitioners in China.

Edward Jili and his friends were in the town centre at Market Place on Saturday demonstrating the meditation practice as they petitioned to get as many signatures as possible.

The group collected 1,000 signatures after the display to highlight the persecution suffered by fellow Falun Gong followers in China.

Falun Gong is a practice of slow-moving meditative exercises.

In China millions of citizens are persecuted, and many even tortured to death, because of their belief.

Edward said: "We want to highlight to people in Huddersfield how peaceful and harmless the practice is. Nobody deserves to have their human rights taken away from them."

The group holds free Falun Gong class at Huddersfield University on Thursday evenings from 7pm to 9pm.
