China upgrades collider.

An upgrade of the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider (BEPCII) officially entered its second phase this past July with the dismantlement of the 17-yr old single storage ring and the installation of a new double ring system. The circumference of the new ring is >2 km, while that of the old ring was only 240 m. The upgrade will improve the performance of the collider by a factor of 100, along with the installation of all new insertion devices and front ends for the new system. Commissioning of the new ring is expected in June 2006.
