China : SEADRILL places $460m order for a pair of high-specification jack-up drilling rigs.

Seadrill has placed $460 million order for a pair high-specification jack-up drilling rigs from China's Dalian. Each unit would cost $230 million.

As per the deal, this pair of F&G JU2000E design rigs will have capacity to operate in water depths of up to 400 feet and drill to depths of up to 30,000 feet.

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Corporation (DSIC) will deliver the two newbuilds during the second and third quarters of 2016 respectively.

Each unit would feature project management, capitalized interest, drilling and handling tools, spares and operation preparations.

According to Seadrill, followed by this latest order it now had ten jack-ups under construction at the Chinese yard, which includes two which are scheduled for delivery during this year, five during 2015 and three for 2016.
