China : Dr. Qiang YANG Honoured the 1st AAAI Fellowship among Chinese Scientists Worldwide.

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announces that Dr. Qiang YANG, head of the Huawei s Noah s Ark Lab, has been elected a fellow of AI (the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence) at the 27th annual conference of AI, in Bellevue, Washington USA in July 2013.

AI Fellow is the highest honor in the Artificial Intelligence community, recognizing a small group of AI members who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of artificial intelligence. This year AI elected eight fellows from across the world. Qiang Yang is the 1st AI Fellow in Greater China and first among Chinese Scientists worldwide. Qiang Yang was elected "for significant contributions to AI Planning, Data Mining and Case-based Reasoning" in Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Yang is already a fellow of the institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), and The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AS).

"I am much honored to be elected as an AI Fellow," noted Dr. Qiang Yang, "I believe Noah s Ark lab will play a major role in innovative research on Artificial Intelligence and Big Data research. Our work will help move AI into the next level both in theory and practice and at the same time, promote Huawei s leadership in the business of intelligent systems and Big Data."

AI was founded in 1979 as a world-leading association on Artificial Intelligence. In its early history, the organization was presided over by notable figures in computer science such as Allen Newell, Marvin Minsky and John McCarthy. AI is also the organization that runs the top conference in Artificial Intelligence, with an access of 6,000 members worldwide.
