China,Korea Republic of : CHERY AUTOMOBILE to power its electric vehicles with LG CHEM.

China's state-run Chery Automobile has selected LG Chem to provide batteries for its electric vehicles, as part of a multi-million dollar worth of deal.

Under this contract, Seoul-headquartered LG Chem will supply batteries for the car manufacturer's next-generation EV, mass production of which is slated to be started at the end of 2015.

Chery Automobile, the seventh largest carmaker in China by sales, sold 460,000 passenger cars in 2014.

The leading Chinese carmaker, which was set up in 1997, based in Wuhu, Anhui Province, China.

The President LG Chem Kwon Young-soo revealed, "With this deal, we have secured more than half of China's top 10 carmakers as clients. This will help us lead the world's biggest electric car market."
