SEVERAL children and an adult were left stuck in the air after a fairground ride stopped working in Porthcawl.
Riders on Miami Madness ride at the Coney Beach Amusement Park were trapped for over an hour after the ride jammed. The ride lifts users through the air in a circular motion at speed.
Onlooker Deano Sawday, 38, from Porthcawl, said he went down to the fairground shortly after 6pm.
He said: "I went down there yesterday in the evening and saw them stuck up there. The poor people were up there for over an hour. It might even have been longer. There was a couple of children, I would say around eight, and an adult.
"They had to be at least 20 feet up in the air. There was no way they could have got off it. The children were pretty calm and it was all in control. There were lots of firemen there was well, just in case."
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they attended the scene after being called shortly after 6.30pm. They left at 7.20pm.
A spokeswoman said: "We attended the incident but we did not do anything. The fairground ride was brought down by fairground personnel. "They were checked by paramedics but I don't believe there were any injuries".
Fairground owner Pat Evans said the incident has been "blown out of proportion" on social media and said that at no point were any of the riders in danger or distress.
He said: "Coney Beach wishes to sincerely apologise to our customers who were stuck on Miami Madness when it broke down. "Our maintenance staff were able to bring the ride down safely after about 40 minutes.
"We would like to thank the local fire brigade for attending following a call to them from a concerned guest but they were not needed on this occasion although their support was very much appreciated.
"The safety systems on the ride which were activated by the automatic shutdown meant it took longer than we would have liked to locate the fault before we were able to bring the ride back to its parking position. We would like to thank the customers for their patience."
