Children caught up in first day at school terror.

A LITTLE girl cries in terror as her mum leads her away from fighting which broke out today near a primary school.

Pupils looking forward to their first day back at school in Belfast had to be protected by troops and RUC officers using riot shields.

About 200 protesters clashed with police as they tried to block the route Catholic pupils use to get to school. The route passes through a Protestant area.

There were running battles before protesters were turned away.
