Child sex `film maker' claims remain mystery.
David Walton began downloading indecent images of girls and exchanging the disturbing emails shortly after being freed early on licence from his last prison sentence for child pornography.
Detectives have been unable to establish the truth of claims in the correspondence which Walton says were fantasy for his gratification, Newcastle Crown Court heard.
They included claims he had Middle East connections and was setting up a pornographic film in Thailand in a rented house using two young girls. Walton, 44, formerly of Waverley Road, Rye Hill, Newcastle, was arrested in February last year when seen downloading indecent images of children at an internet cafe in the city's West Road.
He was jailed for three years with four years extended licence for the protection of the public after admitting three offences of making indecent images of children and ordered on to the sex offender register for life.
Judge David Wood said Walton was "clever and determined".
Walton has a conviction for indecently assaulting a girl in 1995. He was jailed in 2001 and 2002 for having indecent child images.
Henry Trory, defending, said: "He asks me to say to the court he is somebody who realises what he is doing is deeply wrong."
