Child rape victim is refused payout.
A victim groomed and raped by a paedophile has been refused compensation because he has criminal convictions.
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority say Kirk Sharpe won't get compensation for being abused because of two offences which resulted in him receiving community service orders.
Traumatised Kirk was 11 years old when he was targeted by pervert foster carer Vince Hill, 61.
It took Kirk six years to finally break away from Hill, then he suffered a nervous breakdown and ended up homeless.
Hill, from Kirkcaldy, Fife, was jailed for seven years in March after the full extent of the abuse was revealed.
Kirk, from Bathgate, West Lothian, said: "I was so distraught about what Hill had done, my life spiralled out of control. I drank to try to blot out the abuse.
"I can only hope the CICA will reconsider my case and accept my bad behaviour was caused by the anger and confusion at trying to bottle the abuse inside of me."
Kirk's lawyer Cameron Fyfe of Drummond Miller said: "It's ironic criminal injuries can be refused as a result of the impact abuse has had on victim's lives. I'll be asking the CICA to reconsider."
