Chicago Rubber Group.

The Chicago Rubber Group met January 29 at the Radisson Hotel in Arlington Heights, IL. Presentations included "New directions and ideas from the ACS" by Ed Miller, executive director of the Rubber Division, ACS; and "Business programs and opportunities available for your business" by Dave Pierson, Illinois Department of Commerce & Trade. The CRG's "Basics of Rubber Technology" course will take place March 1-3 at Rawhide University in Elgin, IL. The introduction to the course will include a history of rubber and rubber applications. Subjects of the course will include various polymers, rubber ingredients, the mixing process and equipment, methods of formulating a rubber part, including molding, extrusion and calendering, rubber-to-metal bonding, test methods, testing instruments, quality control and rubber specifications and application of ASTM D2000. The CRG will hold its spring technical meeting April 29 at the Radisson Hotel in Arlington Heights, IL. Further information on both meetings is available from Andy Dangel (330) 920-8023.
