Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP, Cedar Bayou Plant Renews Pavilion Agreement; Agreement Ensures Continued Access to Latest Neural Network Technology.
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 2002
Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP's (CPChem) Cedar Bayou facility has renewed its service agreement for its site-wide license with Pavilion Technologies after eight successful years as a customer.
The agreement gives Cedar Bayou access to the latest Pavilion new software, subsequent releases and Pavilion's engineering expertise. Cedar Bayou uses Pavilion's Process Perfecter(R), Property Predictor, and Software CEM(R) solutions to improve processes at its Cedar Bayou facility.
"We were one of Pavilion's first customers. Pavilion provided the best solution available to control our gas phase polyethylene reactors, and they continue to provide us with leading technology and services," said Russ Clinton, Superintendent of Automated Systems, CPChem, Cedar Bayou. "Our facility has experienced significant benefits from Pavilion's products, improving our process operability, productivity and reliability."
The renewal also includes a site-wide extension for the deployment of Pavilion's Environmental Portfolio Manager (EPM) software, which automates the complex and time-intensive process of environmental emission reporting by enabling real-time monitoring, calculation, data management and reporting. The plant's deployment of EPM will serve as the foundation for the company's participation in the Texas Mass Emissions Cap and Trade (MECT) program.
CPChem has more than 20 environmental and manufacturing solutions operating at the Cedar Bayou facility. Pavilion's Process Perfecter software employs non-linear neural network modeling technology to control four polyethylene lines for Cedar Bayou, increasing production rates, reducing off-spec product, improving overall product quality and reducing maintenance. An additional four polyethylene line Process Perfecter solutions are currently being implemented. Pavilion's Software CEM product currently monitors 17 boilers and furnaces for the facility, ensuring cost-effective environmental compliance.
"Our success at Cedar Bayou and subsequent polymer facilities is testimony to the long-term stability and value of neural network solutions in industrial manufacturing environments," said Doug Johnson, chief operating officer, Pavilion Technologies Inc. "We are honored to have CPChem as a long-time customer and are committed to ensuring their continued success."
