Chery Automobile (Chery), a China-based automaker, is planning to source catalytic converters from South Africa, according to Tony Sun, Chery International Asia-Pacific & South Africa general manager.
The catalytic converters will be used by the company's production plants in China.
The company is taking this step to cut import duties faced by Chery for bringing its vehicles into South Africa.
