Cherie Blair's refusal.

Byline: Paul ROUTLEDGE

THE Queen has let it be known that she is "amused rather than offended" by Cherie Blair's refusal to curtsy.

Her Majesty doesn't have much choice - the First Scouse Lady isn't going to change her ways after queening it in No.10 for the best part of a decade.

Yet Mrs Blair has no problem lowering her head to Arab potentates or Chinese politicians, presumably because they are richer or more powerful than the monarch.

It's just New Labour's way of bowing to the inevitable, I suppose. Or maybe Cherie is shy about her knobbly knees.
