Chemtura Introduces More Efficient Firemaster(R) Flame Retardant Products.
Flexible polyurethane foams (FPF), which are used primarily as cushioning in furniture, mattress and automotive applications, generally incorporate flame retardant additives to achieve fire safety. In recent years, flame retardant standards for such products--e.g. the new Consumer Product Safety Commission standard for mattress flammability--have become increasingly more stringent. At the same time, society demands that flame retardants are environmentally responsible. Firemaster 600 and Firemaster 602 do both and represent the latest in our ongoing commitment to offer only those products meeting the highest of environmental and fire-safety standards to our customers.
"Chemtura has proven itself an adaptive, forward-looking company with respect to our flame retardant business, and we have responded to the needs of our customers by developing Firemaster 600 and Firemaster 602," said Anne Noonan, Chemtura's Vice President and General Manager Flame Retardants & Brominated Performance Products. "Both products significantly increase efficiency while maintaining the physical property performance, high scorch resistance and favorable environmental profile of the Firemaster 550 family of products."
