Cheers for the ack-ack gunners; your letters: Remember When.

WITH the commemorations for the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain this year, as air crew I understand what it was like and appreciate the heroism of "The Few".

However, the part played by the antiaircraft defences are often overlooked.

The lads and lasses on the ack-ack guns and balloon defences often don't even get a mention.

My brother-in-law was in the Home Guard and manned the guns in Barking Park, East London.

Many air raids on the capital were at night - the gunners did a great job for 15p a day.

Three cheers to the Home Guard.
