CheapAsChips; IKEA, M6 J9, WEDNESBURY.

CAUGHT up in M6 no-man's land one sunny evening, I was somehow persuaded by my wife to enter this labyrinthine retail hell-hole in search of light bulbs.

I then had a brighter idea...

chips! A plateful of decent fries from the in-store restaurant weighed 200g when tipped on to my in-car scales, which were enjoying a rare trip out inside Collette's handbag.

The fries cost 98p. Which, bizarrely, was just one pence less than scores of 99p 'steak frying pans' we found during our subsequent inspection tour (which, predictably, lasted two hours!). No wonder the car park was still full when we escaped at 8pm.
