Charvis called up for Wales.

Byline: By Alan Hedley

Colin Charvis will miss the Falcons' Premiership game at Saracens on Sunday after being named in the Wales side to face South Africa.

It means Newcastle will have both Jamie Noon, who is in the England side against New Zealand and skipper Charvis missing for the crucial game at Watford.

Saracens prop Cobus Visagie has been cleared to play in the game. Visagie is to appear before an RFU disciplinary hearing next Tuesday after being charged with stamping on an opponent in the game against Bath.

* BORDER Reivers have launched a Community Tuesday programme in conjunction with Scottish Rugby.

The programme aims to strengthen the relationship between the Reivers and the local community clubs and schools, providing youngsters with positive role models to help increase participation in sport and rugby.

Reivers fly-half Gregor Townsend said: "It is a fantastic initiative which will benefit clubs in the Borders. I know my enthusiasm for rugby would have been fuelled even further had I had the opportunity to meet and be encouraged by professional rugby players." If you want to be part of Community Tuesday contact Hazel Hunter at the Border Reivers office on (01896) 750045.
