Charteris gets Ryt among the goals; DURHAM COUNTY FA U-18 LEAGUE.

RYTON Blacks enjoyed a 6-2 victory over visitors Ryhope CW.

Ryton made five changes to the team which had defeated Rutherford last week but were always too strong for their Wearside opponents.

Injuries forced the home team to make two first-half changes before James Charteris opened the scoring with his first touch after a great pass from Luke Senior.

Senior was also involved in the second Ryton goal.

After good hold-up play he rolled the ball into the path of Thomas Harris, who found the top corner from 25 yards to make the half-time score 2-0. The third Ryton goal came from the head of Elliott Forbes after a corner from Wes Maddock. Ryhope pulled one back to make it 3-1 but soon afterwards Charteris nabbed his second for Ryton for 4-1. Charteris completed his hat-trick and again Senior was involved in the buildup.

Ryton's best effort came from Sam Shepherd, who produced a sublime overhead kick from 12 yards to make it 6-1. In the final minute Ryhope CW netted a consolation.

Gateshead Rutherford overcame Spennymoor Town 3-1. Moors started the game well and it was no surprise when they took the lead midway through the first half with a deflected shot from 20 yards by Liam Porter.

Gateshead equalised when the Moors' goalkeeper misjudged a through ball and a Rutherford striker was presented with an empty net.

Moors lost all confi-dence after this and the Tynesiders went on to run out worthy winners with two further second- half counters by substitute Cal Smith.

South Shields defeated Shildon 2-1. Matthew Davidson fired Shields ahead and Jonny Bainbridge added the second from the spot before David Vincent reduced the arrears for Shildon.
