A record field of 570 players from around the world took part in 16 age-group categories ranging from under 7 players to those aged 15-18.

During the competition, the courses were modified for each age group in order to provide the same level challenge; meaning holes are progressively shorter as the age groups get younger.

Charlie, who lives in Abergele with parents Neil and Liz and eight-year old brother Jack, last year represented the UK at the Callaway junior world golf championships at the Calina Park club in San Diego, California where he finished as top European in 18th place.
