Charles River Associates Adds Industry, Economic Expert in Transportation Consulting.

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 2, 1999--

Charles River Associates Incorporated (Nasdaq:CRAI) announced that Kevin Neels has rejoined the firm as a vice president. Dr. Neels is a widely experienced economist who has consulted to public- and private-sector clients across a range of industries, including transportation, energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. He has also provided expert testimony and support in numerous legal and regulatory proceedings. Dr. Neels was vice president in charge of CRA's pharmaceuticals practice from 1984 to 1993.

"We are delighted to have Kevin back with us," said James C. Burrows, CRA President and CEO. "He will be assuming a leadership position in the firm, with a special focus on transportation. Transportation is a long-established practice at CRA that continues to provide high-end services to a constantly changing industry, including travel demand forecasting, public policy analysis, business strategy, and litigation and regulation support. Kevin brings an array of economic and management consulting skills to the practice, strengthening both our business consulting and our regulation and litigation work in the industry. He is a highly regarded econometrician who has considerable experience in transportation and other industries. We are very excited to have him with us."

Prior to rejoining CRA, Dr. Neels was a vice president with PHB Hagler Bailly, Inc., where his work often focused on damages estimation, antitrust, and regulatory issues. He also was formerly vice president for health economics and managing director at Quintiles Inc.

Dr. Neels specializes in the application of quantitative techniques to business, legal, and regulatory problems. In addition to his business consulting work, he has played a key role as an expert witness or economic advisor in high-stakes legal and regulatory proceedings. He directed a team of economists working for the plaintiff in the case that resulted in the largest damage judgment ever awarded in a patent infringement lawsuit. In other cases he has developed econometric models in transportation and other industries to support investment decisions and damage claims.

Dr. Neels received his A.B. and Ph.D. from Cornell University.
