Charles Deweese named Associate Director of SBHS.

The Southern Baptist Historical Society has recently appointed Dr. Charles Deweese to the position of Associate Director. His primary assignment will include development and membership responsibilities. He also will provide leadership in publication projects. Deweese served on the staff of the Historical Commission from 1973 to 1994, including five years as the Assistant Executive Director. For the past four years he served as Director of Baptist Publishing and Director of Denominational and Academic Publishing with Providence House Publishers of Franklin, Tennessee.

Slayden Yarbrough, Executive Director of the SBHS, expressed his delight with the addition of Deweese. "Simply stated, there is no person more qualified in Baptist life to fill this position. Charles Deweese has the experience, the commitment, and the integrity to advance the influence of the Society among not only Southern Baptists but all Baptists both nationally and internationally. His reputation among Baptist historians enhances the respect of our organization to a new level. He is a long-time friend, a scholar, and a dedicated Baptist and historian. I am thrilled to have him join in our efforts to serve Baptists and their history needs, both at the local church level and in the academic and scholarly communities."
