Addressing a gathering at 'Alamgirians Re-union & Parents' Day' at Military College Jhelum, Chief of Army Staff, Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said, "Development of character, discipline and intellectual capacity must remain top priorities in the grooming of future leaders".
The fortune and fibre of a nation and society is built through education and proper character-building. To build a national character and produce effective leadership without strong and systematic character-building mechanism at school, college and university levels, may never be possible. Grooming young generation and future leadership to become men of character should be our main objective. Pakistan Army has always accorded top priority to the education and character-building of its future leaders. To re-inforce its resolve, in addition to the existing institutions, it has opened two more Military Colleges at Murree and Sui in the recent years which, through objective curriculum, are producing excellent citizens. Stephen R. Covey in his book 'Seven Habits of Highly Effective People' writes, "Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny."
The world at present has become a global village and the fittest from all angles i.e. physically, psychologically, spiritually, intellectually, and morally shall always succeed. Men of strong character make the conscience of the society and become the destiny of the nation.
