Changes to JTF North and RMC Saint-Jean.

Brigadier-General Guy Hamel took over command of Joint Task Force North (JTFN) from BGen. David Millar on June 18. BGen. Hamel joins JTFN from his previous post as commander of CFB Borden and formation commander for Canadian Forces Support Training Group.

"I am proud and honoured to be here in Canada's North," he said. "This new challenge that my family and I are about to embark on will be full of adventure and rewards, and we are looking forward to the opportunity to experience the people and culture of the North over the next two years."

After commanding JTFN for the past two years, BGen. Millar will be moving to the Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat in Ottawa as director of operations, defence/international security, at the Privy Council Office.

At this same ceremony, Chief Warrant Officer Gilles Laroche assumed the duties of JTFN CWO from CWO Mark Saulnier, who is posted to Heidelberg, Germany as the command sergeant major for the Allied Force Command Heidelberg.

The Royal Military College Saint-Jean held a ceremony on June 22 to mark the change of command between Colonel Francois Pion and Colonel Guy Maillet, who comes to RMC Saint-Jean from Ottawa, where he spent the last two years as the Director General Canadian forces Grievance Authority. As part of the ceremony a change of chief warrant officer appointment also took place between CWO Serge Beaudoin, who is retiring from the Forces, and Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Pierre Langlois.
