Chance to showcase tech in India; Business Report.

COMPANIES in the West Midlands have a few days left to take advantage of an exciting opportunity to reach the lucrative market of India.

Small and medium-sized businesses in the region are being urged to put in their applications before the end of the year.

The India Pakistan Trade Unit - IPTU - which is run by the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is supporting a market visit to INFOCOM 08-09 in Kolkata from January 10 until 17, next year.

The event is the largest showcase for business and consumer technology products in India, bringing together ICT professionals such as buyers, sellers, corporate leaders, academics and policymakers.

Businesses joining the market visit will benefit from pre-mission briefing, in-market briefing, inmarket reception and appointment arranging service if required. India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world - with China it makes up half the world population. Rupi Nandra, international projects manager and India Pakistan trade unit manager, said: "India's economy offers huge opportunities to UK companies. West Midlands firms can win substantial business, particularly in the ICT and business and professional services sectors."

All applications are subject to approval by a local International Trade Adviser from UK Trade & Investment. For further information about the visit and an application form please visit www.iptu.co.uk or contact Rupi Nandra on 0121 607 0106, email r.nandra@birminghamchamber.org.uk.
