Challengers split in tourney.

Three pitchers combined on a two-hitter to lead the Eugene Challengers to an 8-0 victory Sunday over Challengers East in five innings at the Challenger Classic in Swede Johnson Stadium.

Mike Woodfin earned the victory, and Ryan Royster and Austin Brushett combined to preserve the shutout.

Nick Faunce went 3-for-3 for the Challengers with a single, double and solo home run, and Sean Martin went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the fourth inning.

Kellen Hobie added two doubles and two RBI for the Challengers.

Earlier Sunday, Brett Burnett tossed a two-hitter to lead Richey's Market of Corvallis to a 3-0 victory over the Challengers. A.J. Norris and Ryan Smith had Eugene's only hits.

In other games at the tournament, Challengers East defeated Challengers West 9-5, the Les Schwab Rockets of Albany defeated Richey's Market 9-5, and the Rockets defeated Challengers East 9-1 in five innings.
