Cerys Caves in; NEWS IN BRIEF.

CATATONIA singer Cerys Matthews has snubbed Nick Cave's offer to write "happy" songs for her.

The Aussie vocalist was a guest on her BBC 6Music radio show when the conversation turned to sad tunes. The 52-year-old former heroin addict asked the I'm A Celebrity star if she still sang.

When Cardiff born Cerys said "yes" he replied: "Do you need some happy songs? I could write some for you if you like."

But on her Twitter page, the 40-year-old blonde insisted no partnership was in the offing: "No, no. Though I loved Where The Wild Roses Grow," she said, referring to Cave's 1995 duet with Kylie.
