Business Editors & Health/Medical Writers

TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 18, 2002

MediServe Information Systems Inc. today announced an agreement that will make available to Cerner clients a Clinical Information System for their Rehabilitation and Respiratory Departments. Healthcare organizations using Cerner Millennium(TM) for a Healthcare Information System will be able to also choose MediServe's MediLinks(TM) Clinical Information System as a Cerner Certified Solution. MediServe's MediLinks(TM) will utilize Cerner's MillenniumObjects(TM) -- Cerner's open architecture toolkit for client and third-party health care application development.

This agreement makes MediServe the first departmental Clinical Information System supplier to be designated a Cerner Certified Solution Provider. Healthcare organizations will be able to deploy MediServe's MediLinks system as a sub-solution of a Cerner Millennium installation in Rehabilitation and Respiratory Departments. Current and future Cerner clients benefit from having a MediServe solution that complements other "Care Center" departmental products in Cerner's product family. MediLinks provides functionality specific to rehabilitation and respiratory departments, including: charge & cost capture, productivity measurement, branching logic, protocols and outcomes analysis in addition to meeting the unique reporting and regulatory compliance needs of these two departments.

"We believe MediServe is the leading player in this important set of ancillary departments," said Rick Holbrook, Cerner Corp. vice president. "Through the power of MillenniumObjects, Cerner clients will have access to the value of MediServe's focus on rehabilitation and respiratory services as a complement to their investment in Cerner's unified architecture approach."

"Cerner has strong leadership and a proven track record in creating systems that improve healthcare delivery," said Bruce Mortensen, president, MediServe Information Systems. "This solution will be a win-win for those departments who desire the innovation and leading technology of Cerner Millennium along with the unique strengths that MediLinks brings to the Respiratory and Rehabilitation departments. We have great expectations for this relationship and are confident that working with Cerner will result in a solution that gives clients significant patient, business and organizational benefits."

MediServe's clinical software and wireless solutions enable healthcare organizations to achieve a 360-degree view of both their patients and their business. MediLinks(TM) is MediServe's point-of-care application that supports all clinical information management activities and tasks of the healthcare organization. MediServe clients are increasing the quality of patient care and dramatically reducing operating costs by using MediLinks(TM) to plan, manage and evaluate the entire cycle of clinical care.
