The Canadian dollar lost value early to close about two-thirds of a cent on Tuesday, following comments from the central bank head.

The governor of the Bank of Canada said the economy may miss expectations in the first few months of this year and the slowdown may not be entirely related to the weather.

Stephen Poloz said that one could expect slower than normal growth in Canada.
