Central Insurance Companies Launches New Internet Transactions Powered by Intelligent Environments' Amazon Web Integration Platform.
New Internet/intranet applications enable dynamic Web policy
quoting capability for over 650 insurance agencies nationwide
Intelligent Environments, a leading provider of powerful Web solutions, and the Central Insurance Companies today announced the launch of Central's new business transaction capability being made available to Central's agents nationwide via the company's Web site. Taking advantage of Intelligent Environments' Amazon Web integration platform, Ohio-based Central Insurance created Web-based business transactions which allow its agents to log onto Central's Web site and obtain premium quotes for commercial automobile policies.
Agents complete online forms which are dynamic in nature -- they change depending on how various fields on the form are completed. Amazon provides the application development environment and database connectivity powering the new transactions, which submit policy information to Central's legacy systems in real-time for processing of the quotes. The new "Online with Central" system is a dual-purpose, Internet/intranet delivery system that will be accessed internally by Central's 460 employees via a corporate intranet, and externally by more than 650 insurance agencies nationwide via Central's Web site.
"We selected Intelligent Environments' Amazon platform because of its ease of use and built-in connectivity to any database," says Larry Streets, senior Internet/intranet programmer analyst at Central Insurance Companies. "We will roll out additional transactions based on applications from our legacy systems. Agents nationwide will be able to obtain policy quotes and inquire into other systems through the Web, which gives us an edge over our competition." The new Central Online system can be accessed via Central Insurance Companies' Web site: http://www.central-insurance.com.
The Amazon integration platform offers the industry's widest range of high-speed, native connectivity options to corporate databases and comprehensive IBM environment support, including high-performance CICS, 3270 and 5250 terminal emulation, APPC and MQSeries. Amazon lets developers access the wealth of business intelligence embedded within legacy systems and allows organizations to seamlessly scale their Web-based offerings to meet any level of demand.
