Central City News: Whitby's trawler.

IMMEDIATELY after a recent England World Cup game, Councillor Mike Whitby was spotted on Broad Street.

What was this upstanding grandee of the municipality doing honouring us with his presence?

Mike was mingling with the thousands of footy fans all singing praise to their beloved "Ingeeer-land". Very different to walking the corridors of power in the Council House. Don't forget that this guy, one of the most powerful Tories in Birmingham, also holds the purse strings of the city council's pounds 3 billion budget, enough to buy everyone on Broad Street a drink or two.

Rumour has it that Mike was trying to find a bar with a suitable dress code.
