Central City News: Vicious stray dog could be destroyed; TYSELEY.

A MONGREL that lurched at a mother and child on a city street faces being destroyed unless claimed by today.

The vicious dog was snared by council warden Karl Fry after scaring passers-by in Lincroft Road, Tyseley. As the dog warden was closing in on the medium size male mongrel, the animal lurched violently towards a mother and her young child in a pushchair.

But the warden stepped in and the mother and child were unharmed.

He said: "This was a really close call. This marauding mutt was a real menace and could have caused some very nasty injuries. It was a good job we had the call out when we did. This one also made several attempts to bite me as well. It was frightening.

"We don't want children to be frightened of animals, but all parents and their families need to recognise the possible danger of a lone dog."

If the owner fails to come forward the dog could either be re-homed or destroyed. Anyone concerned about an unaccompanied dog should contact 0121 303 9900
