Central City News: Clampers bungle it; Eye On.

A RARE victory for the motorist against the wicked car clampers was witnessed to the rear of Broad Street on Monday just gone.

The private car park behind the job centre is a very lucrative and fertile ground for the clampers.

Such was the case when a Nissan Priva, determined to steal a space "just for a few minutes", turned up and parked.

Out crept the clamper, on went the clamp. After an hour or so up turned the tow truck.

It was at this point the clampers' error occurred.

Instead of lifting the car with the clamp intact, they removed the device prior to lifting the car.

Out sprang the driver from some nearby bushes, on went the engine, off went the car. A rare example of highway robbers nil - motorist one.
