Business/Technology Editors

LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 2001

Centra (NASDAQ: CTRA), the world's leading provider of software and ASP services for eLearning and collaboration, announced today that it has been added to the Russell 2000 (R) and Russell 3000 (R) Indexes of publicly traded companies, effective July 1, 2001. The addition of Centra to the Russell Indexes results in the company being included in investment funds comprised of companies in that index, and raises the visibility of Centra to investors who rely on the Russell indexes as part of their investment strategies. The Indexes are part of a series of market cap weighted U.S. equity metrics produced by the Frank Russell Company, and considered by many investment professionals as the benchmark for small-cap stocks. Each year the indexes are re-balanced based on market capitalization. More than $180 billion is invested in funds modeling Russell's U.S. indexes.

Leon Navickas, Centra's Chairman and CEO said, "Being included in the Russell Index reflects the significant progress we've made over the past year and is another example of our continued growth. We are excited to be listed in this prestigious Index, providing Centra with added exposure to potential investors."

About the Frank Russell Index

Frank Russell Company, one of the world's leading investment services firms, calculates and publishes a family of 21 U.S. equity indexes that are widely regarded as important measures of stock market activity. This listing of 2,000 companies is the standard against which many small-cap investment managers are measured. Russell's index methodology excludes limited partnerships, limited liability companies, royalty trusts, closed-ended investment management companies, ADRs, preferred stock, pink-slipped companies, OTC bulletin board companies, and warrants and rights. The indexes do not include stocks trading below $1 at rebalancing, but real estate investments trusts and IPOs are eligible. Stocks also must be U.S.-domiciled.
