Centinela Hospital Medical Center appoints new CEO.

INGLEWOOD, Calif.--(HealthWire)--Jan. 15, 1997--Centinela Hospital Medical Center, the official hospital for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers, Kings, PGA TOUR and Senior PGA TOUR, has appointed John E. Smithhisler as its new CEO.

A native of Washington D.C., Smithhisler has a long-tenured history in health care administration. He was selected for the Centinela post for his ability to adapt to industry changes while providing leadership and positive change that will help the medical facility maintain its strength and reputation through the 21st century.

Prior to his appointment at Centinela, Smithhisler worked throughout the southern and southwestern regions of the United States, most recently as CEO of the 423-bed Columbia East Houston Medical Center in Houston.

Smithhisler received his M.A. in health services administration from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. A diplomate of the American College of Health Care Organizations, he was among the first group of executive managers chosen for the Health Trust/AUPHA Fellows Program, a one-year curriculum of study that includes site visits to the Henry Ford Health System and specific study in Oxford, England.

Smithhisler currently resides in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
