Cell Therapeutics Inc names Dr Reed V. Tuckson to board.

Biopharmaceutical company Cell Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ (MTA:CTIC) revealed on Monday the election of Reed V. Tuckson MD FACP as a Class I director to its board of directors.

The company added Dr Tuckson's appointment brings the number of member in the board to nine, seven of whom are independent directors.

Currently, Dr Tuckson serves as the executive vice president and chief of Medical Affairs at UnitedHealth Group, the Minnesota-based Fortune 25 diversified health care company.

Most recently, Dr Tuckson served as senior vice president of Professional Standards for the American Medical Association.

Previously, Dr Tuckson worked as president of the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, senior vice president for Programmes of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation and commissioner of Public Health for the District of Columbia.
