Celebrities can't resist taking on 'Internet Challenges'.
Called "Bird Box Challenge," it is inspired by Netflix's original horror film "Bird Box" released last December.
In it, Sandra Bullock (Melanie) and two children (Boy and Girl) must avoid coming face to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears in a post-apocalyptic world. Searching for hope and a new beginning, they embark on a dangerous journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. To make it, they'll have to cover their eyes from the evil that chases them -- and complete the trip blindfolded.
And, of course, in this social media-obsessed world, the film has spurred memes. Many netizens have been uploading and sharing videos of themselves attempting to emulate the movie by wearing blindfolds, wandering around which, in some cases, has led to unpleasant consequences.
That is why Netflix has now urged viewers not to try the "Bird Box Challenge" in a bid to stop them ending "up in the hospital due to memes."
On Twitter, the digital movie platform wrote: "Can't believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don't know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end in the hospital due to memes."
Recent years have seen the rise of many internet crazes which some of our local celebrities have participated in. Do you remember...
#InMyFeelings Dance Challenge
"In My Feelings" by Canadian artist Drake caught the attention of listeners who love the beat.
The challenge began when a popular Instagram user danced to the song and asked his followers to do the same.
Others, including celebrities, leveled up the game and started dancing beside a moving car. (The Department of Transportation (DOTr) discouraged the public from doing the challenge, asking: "Anong mas patok sayo? 'Yung MAKIUSO o ang KALIGTASAN MO?")
Among those who had their take on the dance craze is Kim Chiu. Her video uploaded on Instagram garnered 1, 164, 590 views.
Then there's Rocco Nacino with 22, 494 views; Inigo Pascual and Donnalyn Bartolome with 171, 748 views; Ronnie Alonte with 869, 408 views; Bela Padilla with 1, 862, 973 views; and KC Montero with 593, 148 views.
If you have high tolerance for spicy food, maybe you could try this challenge.
Many people, even local celebrities, have been posting videos of themselves trying the "world's spiciest instant noodles" manufactured in South Korea.
AC Bonifacio and Awra Briguela have joined the bandwagon, with their video garnering 2,460,733 views on YouTube.
Chienna Filomeno and Riva Quenery have 692,309 views; Hashtags members have 378,340 views; Ronnie has 806,991 views; Christian Bautista with 29,386 views; Jairus Aquino and Sharlene San Pedro have 633,560 views; Maris Racal, Loisa Andalio, Sue Ramirez and Kristel Fulgar have 439,336 views; and Andrea Brillantes with 1,217,291 views.
The most viewed video so far is by siblings Solenn and Erwan Heussaff. They posed the challenge to her husband Nico Bolzico who doesn't like spicy food, Korean food, not even noodles. The video has 4,007,833 views.
#20122018 Photo Challenge
This challenge is quiet easy (but embarrassing for some!). The task is to simply post a picture of yourself from 2012 to 2018 and see how much you've changed.
Because fans wanted to check their idols' transformations, they took the liberty of creating one for them. Other celebrities posted their own.
See photos of Liza Soberano, Enrique Gil, Kathryn Bernardo, Awra, Darren Espanto, Maris, KZ Tandingan, and Inigo Pascual, among others.
The challenge is a You Tube hit wherein people are asked to reach into a box and guess the items inside.
If you think that's simple, then think again. Sometimes the items in the box are spiders, and even creepy-touching food like rambutan.
Gone hysterical when they took part in the challenge were Bea Alonzo, Aiko Melendez, Candy Pangilinan, Piolo Pascual, Arci Munoz, Julia Barretto, Joshua Garcia, Erich Gonzales, Janella Salvador, Loisa Andalio, and Kim.
And while these celebrities made hilarious responses, Liza Soberano begs to differ.
Netizens were amazed with Liza's reaction in the clip shared on Facebook. She did the challenge and bravely touched the small insects inside a box.
The actress did not flinch even when she guessed she was touching either spider or cockroach. The second clip showed her touching worms and raw squid. At the end of the video, she casually said she is "not afraid of worms."
#SwitchItUp Dance Challenge

A certain YouTube account compiled the videos of celebrities who took part in the challenge.
Among the stars were Barbie Imperial and Jane Oineza, Loisa, Kiefer Ravena and Alyssa Valdez, Zeus Collins, Ryan Bang, Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario.
The video has already garnered 1, 605, 376 views on YouTube as of this writing.
