THE daughter of scandal-hit Tory minister Cecil Parkinson has been found dead at her home.
Mary Parkinson, 57, who had a history of drug use, suffered depression after ex-Tory chairman Lord Parkinson died last year from cancer. In recent months Mary had been saved by neighbours after making attempts on her life.
Friend Keith Edwards, 69, said: "She broke into tears when I spoke to her about him. She mentioned his death and said she was lonely." Neighbour Ryan Wheeler, 21, said his dad smashed a window to get into Mary's terraced home, in Battersea, South London, after a friend had looked through her letterbox and raised the alarm on Sunday.
One pal said Mary never got over the 1983 love-child shame that engulfed her dad, adding: "She was a beautiful young woman who went to rock bottom."
Parkinson had a daughter, Flora, with his secretary Sara Keays and when news leaked, he quit as Trade Secretary, his hopes of succeeding Margaret Thatcher as PM crushed. He never tried to contact disabled Flora, now 33.
The Met said: "Police were called to an address in Battersea. A female was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious."
